Teal Street Center is open for business!  Although construction is ongoing, Teal Street Center received its Temporary Certificate of Occupancy in March 2023, which allowed tenants to move into the building and begin serving clientele.  Exterior and campus contruction projects will continue through fall 2023, with completion scheduled for December 2023.  Read the Juneau Empire article here.

May 16, 2022

UHS will receive $300,000 frrom the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority to support Teal Street Center, bringing their total contribution to $525,000.  Read the Trust announcement here.

March 11, 2022

The campaign to build Teal Street Center catapulted forward this week with a $2.5 million appropriation from the federal FY22 omnibus appropriations bill, which passed the Senate last night and is headed to the President’s desk to be signed into law.  Read the press release here.

November 2, 2021

Teal Street Center and The Glory Hall celebrated the new Teal Street Campus with a groundbreaking and open house.  The Glory Hall started serving patrons in their new location last July.  Teal Street Center is entering Phase 2 of construction, which includes the foundation, steel framing, roof and exterior wrap.  The Juneau Empire covered the event. October 22, 2021

United Human Services of SE Alaska was awarded a $500,000 grant from Juneau Community Foundation, made possible by a $1 million gift from Norwegian Cruise Line!

“We are so grateful for this generous support,” says UHS Executive Director Joan O’Keefe. “It couldn’t come at a better time.  This grant will go straight to work building a social service hub that will serve thousands each year.”

According to Juneau Community Foundation Executive Director Amy Skilbred, “We have focused much of this one-time gift on construction projects like the Teal Street Center that will ensure our social service organizations are in a better position to assist the community coming out of the pandemic than going in to it.” You can see the full list of JCF’s grants from the NCL donation here.

The Rasmuson Foundation will contribute $1.25 million to support construction of Teal Street Center, Southeast Alaska’s new social services hub in Juneau. Rasmuson awarded a $750,000 grant and $500,000 low-interest loan to support the project.

“We are thrilled by the faith in this project shown by the Rasmuson Foundation and its endorsement of Teal Street Center’s mission to meet critical human needs in our city and region,” said Joan O’Keefe, UHS Executive Director. “This is a significant milestone for a project many have dreamed of for nearly 20 years, and it will allow us to move forward to break ground this fall,” she said.
